Event coordinator jobs
Open event coordinator roles across the US, updated weekly, plus what the job involves, what employers ask for, and what it actually pays.
What event coordinators do
An event coordinator handles the execution layer of an event: vendor confirmations, run sheets, registration desks, room sets, timelines and the hundred small things that have to be true on the day. Coordinators usually work to a manager’s plan rather than owning the client relationship, which makes it the most common way into the profession and the title most often advertised to people with no formal events background.
What it pays
The Bureau of Labor Statistics does not publish a separate figure for event coordinators. It reports one occupation (meeting, convention and event planners) with a median of $59,440 a year. Coordinator postings are the entry rung of that occupation, so treat the median as a mid-career number rather than a starting one, and read the salary on each listing below for what employers in your market are actually offering today.

What employers typically ask for
- A high school diploma; many postings ask for a bachelor’s degree but accept relevant experience instead
- One to two years in hospitality, administration or customer-facing work
- Evidence you can run a timeline and chase vendors without being chased
- Comfort with spreadsheets, registration platforms and a shared calendar
- Evening and weekend availability, the work happens when the event happens
- A certification in event or wedding planning, which most postings list as preferred rather than required
