Atlanta punches above its cost of living. The Georgia World Congress Center draws national association and consumer shows year-round, and the airport means an Atlanta meeting is cheap for delegates to reach from anywhere in North America, which is why so many rotating national conferences land here. Film and television production has added a second, less obvious stream of work: wrap parties, premieres, location hospitality and craft-services-adjacent event coordination. It is not the same as planning a conference, but it pays well and it hires people who can run a schedule under pressure.

The social market is strong and, unlike several other major metros, still has room for new independents. Atlanta's Black wedding and event market in particular is large, well established and commercially serious, with a supplier network that a planner has to earn their way into rather than assume access to. Cost of living means a practice here reaches break-even on a much smaller book of business than it would on either coast.
