Founded in California

IIEM was set up in Los Gatos, California, to do one thing: teach people to plan events professionally, at a distance, without asking them to give up a job or move country to do it.

Training the modern event planner

The job has changed. A planner starting out today is expected to run hybrid and virtual events as competently as a ballroom, and to use AI well enough that it saves real hours without putting anything embarrassing in front of a client.

Those are taught here, in the same modules as contracts, budgets and run-of-show, because that is how they arrive in the work. Every module, every assignment and every person who marks it is in events.

Students in 70 countries

Most distance schools in this field say “international” and mean the United States and Canada.

Our graduates plan weddings in Lagos, conferences in Manila and galas in Toronto. The coursework reflects that, the examples, the budgets and the cultural expectations in the wedding modules are not all American ballrooms, and the certificate is issued digitally wherever you are.

BBB accredited since 2012

We are BBB accredited with an A+ rating and have been since 2012.

IIEM operates as an exempt institution under California Education Code §94874. That is an exemption from state oversight for non-degree vocational programs, not an accreditation, and we do not present it as one. We do not offer degrees and we do not claim to.

We created the GCPE® credential

GCPE®, the Global Certification in Professional Events, is our own credential. We award it to graduates of the Master’s Certificate, and we maintain the public register an employer can check it against.

It certifies completed, assessed education in professional event management. It is not a license, and it is not an academic degree.
