Event planning jobs in Orlando
Orlando is the largest meetings destination in the United States by exhibition space, and the only major market where the convention business and the theme park business are the same economy. If you want to work in conventions, incentives and large-scale hospitality, no city hires more of it in one place.

The Orlando market
Orlando is the best entry-level convention market in the country, and that is a specific, practical claim. The volume of hotel convention-services roles, catering coordinator posts and DMC positions along the International Drive corridor means a newcomer can get hired into event work here with less experience than New York or Chicago would require, and can learn on programs with real budgets rather than shadowing.Source: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Occupational Outlook Handbook, checked July 24, 2026
The trade-off is pay. Salaries sit below the national median across most junior roles because supply of willing candidates is high and the hospitality sector sets the floor. Planners who stay tend to move into destination management or into corporate incentive program management, where the money is considerably better and the Orlando experience is directly relevant.
The destination wedding market is its own economy, driven by couples traveling in rather than local residents. That changes the job: more logistics, more guest travel coordination, more vendor relationships with resorts than with independent venues, and a client you may never meet in person before the week of the wedding.
When Orlando hires
Convention traffic is heaviest January through May, when the rest of the country wants to be somewhere warm, with a second run from September to mid-November. Summer shifts toward family and consumer events. Hurricane season from June to November is a genuine contingency-planning requirement, not a formality.
