Event planning jobs in Los Angeles
Los Angeles runs on entertainment, brand activation and a wedding market spread across eighty miles of freeway. Award season, studio premieres and influencer-facing product launches make it the least conventional major events market in the country, and the one where production skills matter most.

The Los Angeles market
Los Angeles pays less than New York and demands a different skill set. The corporate meeting business is smaller and the entertainment-adjacent production business is much larger, which means the planners who do well here read as producers: they can run a load-in, talk to a lighting designer without an interpreter, and manage talent and publicist requirements alongside a guest list. Geography is a real constraint on the business. A wedding in Malibu, a premiere in Hollywood and a corporate offsite in Long Beach are three different vendor networks, and travel time makes it impractical to serve all of them well. Most established independents pick a corridor and stay in it. Permitting is also heavier than planners expect: filming, amplified sound, street closures and beach events each run through different city or county processes, and lead times are unforgiving.
The freelance market is unusually deep. Production coordinators, on-site leads and guest-list staff are booked by the day across studios, agencies and brand activations, which gives newcomers a way in that does not depend on landing a salaried role first. It also means rates are visible and negotiable in a way they are not in most metros.
When Los Angeles hires
January and February are award season, which drives a concentrated burst of high-budget entertainment work. Brand and product launches cluster in spring and autumn. Wedding season runs May through October, with a strong second peak in the mild late-autumn weeks that other markets do not get.
